COLORADO SPRINGS - A music teacher in School District 20 is charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children after an Internet sex crimes investigation by Colorado Springs police.
Jaime Bush Schneider, 42, is the band director at Timber View Middle School, and the tennis coach at Liberty High School. He was arrested Wednesday after a police investigation found sexually exploitative images of children at his home computer.
Police Lt. David Whitlock says the computer apparently contains no images or video of local children. District 20 held a meeting at Timber View Thursday evening to inform parents and ease concerns. Faculty and staff were notified of the arrest earlier in the day.
The CSPD Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip April 2 about Schneider from the National Center For Missing And Exploited Children, regarding someone locally posting suspected sexually exploitative images of children in an online forum.
Schneider was placed into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on the charge of Sexual Exploitation of Children, a class four felony. According to District 20, Schneider has worked for the district since 2001 and passed a background check. Police say he has no prior record. The district has placed Schneider on administrative leave, but officials say it is "very unlikely" that he will keep his job.
