Woman accused of taping dog charged with felony

Associated Press - April 16, 2009 10:24 PM ET

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A woman who police say bound a dog with packing tape and stuck it to a refrigerator in her boyfriend's Boulder apartment has been charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Twenty-year-old Abby Toll appeared before Boulder County Judge Noel Blum on Thursday. She also faces drug possession and assault charges.

She is free on $12,500 bond.

Toll was arrested Tuesday after police say she got into a fight with her boyfriend, Bryan Beck, and wrapped his 2-year-old shiba inu in tape and stuck it to the side of the refrigerator.

She also is accused of slapping Beck and throwing a vase and soda bottle at him. In addition, police say they found a trace amount of heroin in her possession at the jail.

Toll and her attorney, George Kokus, declined to comment.

Beck was charged with not letting Toll leave his apartment or use her cell phone, and has pleaded not guilty.
