COLORADO SPRINGS - Police are deciding whether or not to file charges against the driver who left the scene of a now nationally-famous accident in the Springs.
CSPD had been looking for the driver who left the scene on Vincent Drive near Woodmen and I-25 Thursday after hitting a pregnant woman who was running from a bear.
26-year-old Ashley Swendson was walking along Cottonwood Creek when a bear started chasing her. That's when she ran onto Vincent Road and was hit by a car. She wasn't badly hurt.
The driver's name is not being released.
Uproar arose after the incident, because the bear was euthanized because of "aggressive" behavior. Many of NEWSCHANNEL 13's viewers told us online they wished the bear could have been relocated. The Department of Wildlife says they have a policy of destroying bears which show aggression toward humans.
Swendson says she plans to give her unborn child the middle name "Bear".
