PIKE NATIONAL FOREST - Colorado State Patrol officers tell NEWSCHANNEL 13 flooding has caused a mudslide in Pike National Forest Tuesday night.
Heavy rain, mud and debris came down onto State Highway 67 five miles south of Deckers (milepost 97-99) completely closing the highway around 10:30 p.m.
Due to the amount of debris, mud and rain, the creek was rerouted onto the highway, which ultimately deteriorated portions of the roadway.
Colorado Department of Transportation crews are working to clear the mud and debris from the roadway and culverts. Currently, both directions of SH 67 remain closed. Once this work is complete, crews will have to make some shoulder and roadway repairs. CDOT hopes to reopen SH 67 Wednesday night.
NEWSCHANNEL 13 is tracking this story and will have up-to-the-minute alerts on the roads condition.
