PUEBLO - The Bikers took on the Cops in the 30th Annual Toy Bowl in the Steel City Saturday.
The charity event put on by Pueblo Bikers United drew just over 1,200 people to the football stadium at Pueblo County High School. The rivalry between the bikers and cops is now dead even in the thirty year history, each team has won 15 times. However, the last several years have clearly belonged to the bikers. Their 20-10 win Saturday marked their 5th in a row.
Obviously the game is secondary to the cause the teams are supporting. NEWSCHANNEL 13 spoke with a man who knows a little something about the event. J.T. Trujillo has played in the game every year...for thirty years in a row. He is the Co-President of Pueblo Bikers United and he is one of the main organizers of the Toy Bowl and Toy Run.
"The football game is just one of the benefits we get out of doing what we do," said Trujillo. "The best part of this whole thing is just helping out kids."
Trujillo says they expect to raise about $7,000 at the event. The money will all go towards buying toys for needy children. The toys will all be distributed to families on December 5th at the 32nd Annual Toy Run, just in time for Christmas.
