FORT CARSON - The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They are the 16th and 17th Fort Carson soldiers killed this month. A Fort Carson spokeswoman says this is the deadliest single month for the post since the war in Afghanistan started in 2001 and Iraq was invaded in 2003.

She was assigned to the 704th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

A recent Stockton, Illinois High school graduate was killed in action in Afghanistan.
