DENVER (AP) - A large number of fish have been found dead in Cherry Creek near downtown Denver and authorities are investigating what may have happened.
Denver fire spokesman Phil Champagne says five fire engines are looking at a five-mile stretch of water to find the source of what may have killed the fish.
He says the Colorado Division of Wildlife will take over the investigation. Denver's Environmental Health Department is also responding.
Champagne says the fire department's hazardous materials crew is also at the scene. There were no immediate signs of a chemical or oil spill.
The fish are about two to four inches long.
