DENVER (AP) - Colorado is receiving about $2.1 million in stimulus money over the next few years for work that could help expand high-speed Internet access in the state.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration on Monday announced a grant of $1.6 million over two years to go toward collecting broadband data and mapping what service is available already. Colorado also will receive almost $500,000 for broadband planning activities over a 5-year period.

The grants were made to the Governor's Office of Information Technology.

The NTIA has been announcing similar grants around the country.
