COLORADO SPRINGS - Fighting the snow, one Colorado Springs family is not giving up in the search for Bekime Elshani.
Bekime, or Becky, is the 22-year-old woman who police have been searching for ever since her boyfriend, Daniel Dereere, committed suicide with police outside the door. Becky was last seen the night of March 29th.
Late Thursday, Becky's father, sister, and her sister's fiancé started their trek at Garden of the Gods, traveling 20 miles up Rampart Range Road - one route that could bring her home.
Agim Elshani, Becky's father, gets directions on his cell phone. A bumpy, snow-covered road proves to be no match for the will to find her.
Mile after mile, snow pelts the windshield - the Rampart's red road soon disappearing into covered white.
Agim prompts Marlin, who's driving.
"If you can remember their favorite spot, they used to camp in this region," says Agim.
The three get out of their Explorer, Agim determined.
"I will never give up for my baby girl. I will find her," he says, his coat now covered with the heavy snow.
Soon, though, the cold brings out a raw fear Agim can't deny.
"[She was] enjoying camping in here, and now I'm searching for her body. I'm looking, I'm seeing trees, nothing else," he says, tears in his eyes.
Colorado Springs Police tell NEWSCHANNEL 13 over a dozen tips have come into detectives since the story of Becky's disappearance aired. Leads thus far have turned up nothing. Search teams have been called off.
