I grew up in Rochester, Minnesota where I was exposed to everything from tornadoes, flooding and blizzards to droughts, ice storms, bitter cold and uncomfortable humidity. Needless to say, I quickly acquired a great amount of respect for the weather and how it can affect day to day life, but I was also incredibly curious as to why certain weather events occur. This curiosity really drove my career in weather and I could not be happier with where life has taken me!
After spending a few years studying Meteorology in Arizona, I decided I needed to be where the weather really happens. I moved to Colorado where I finished up my Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology, and also obtained a minor in mathematics, at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. During my time in college, I interned at the NBC and ABC affiliate in Denver which really allowed me to fall in love with the fast paced and ever-changing environment of broadcast television!
Upon graduating I worked for Your Weather Network where I was responsible for everything from Tropical Weather Updates to International Forecasts. Having learned everything I know about forecasting in Colorado, I am ecstatic to get the opportunity to really focus in on the volatile Rocky Mountain influenced weather patterns!
I have to admit, while I love the sunshine and heat, winter is my favorite season. I have been an avid skier all my life, and have recently added snowboarding to my resume. When I am not forecasting, you can most likely find me on the slopes. I'm a huge Broncos fan and I try to spend as much time outside as I can -- my German Shepherd, Chinook, ensures we never forget our daily walks/hikes! Even though I have lived in Colorado for a while now, I don't think the stunning view of the Rockies outside my window will ever get old. I can't even begin to express how happy I am to have the opportunity to bring concise and accurate forecasts to Southern Colorado.
