Local Forecast

Marty's Saturday Morning Forecast - 9/23/17

Today: A shallow layer of cool air will slide over parts of our area today, and will aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms. We expect increasing clouds, breezy & cooler conditions with scattered showers and thunderstorms increasing in coverage throughout the day. The wind will be strong again over the far eastern plains, but not as strong near the I-25 corridor. Storms near the Kansas State line could be pretty strong with hail to near 1" in diameter, and wind gusts to near 60 mph. High temperatures in the 60s and 70s for the plains, 50s over the mountains.

Tonight: Evening showers and thunderstorms should decrease in coverage overnight, but spotty showers are possible at times through daybreak. Areas of low cloud cover may also develop as the shallow layer of cool air again surges southward over the area. Low temperatures in the 40s and 50s for the plains, 30s to lower 40s over the mountains.

Extended: Some drier air will work overhead on Sunday, but we'll remain cool. Although we cannot rule out some spotty showers on Sunday, they shouldn't be nearly as widespread as they'll be today and tonight. A deeper surge of cooler air should slide over the area Sunday night into Monday, and will likely bring a blanket of low clouds to more areas. Additionally, we expect an increase in showers on Monday, and it might be cold enough for some wet snow to mix in over parts of Teller county. We don't expect snow to accumulate significantly anywhere that people will be traveling around Teller county, but it's a sign of fall. Gradually we will dry the atmosphere next week, and we should start to warm as well, but overall it looks like next week will be pretty cool.
