PUEBLO - The Medical Marijuana debate is heating up in Pueblo. City Council members heard from the public on Monday night. Council voted to pass a 90 moratorium before businesses can sell Medical Marijuana. One resident says, "the only thing I ever tried that helped me relax and think straight was Medical Marijuana."
26 people speak at the council meeting another resident says, "what the state and you by not allowing this gentleman to open his store - you're pushing us underground." Nine years ago voters approved amendment 20 which allows the use of Medical Marijuana in Colorado. Cities like Pueblo are trying to figure out where businesses can operate to dispense Medial Marijuana. One resident says, "when you look at marijuana dispensaries this is the biggest farce you could possibly imagine."
Right now in Pueblo there's no regulations to dictate how the dispensaries would operate.
The city won't process any applications for businesses to sell Marijuana during the 90 day moratorium.
