COLORADO SPRINGS -- Several Colorado Springs families are without a home this morning after an early morning fire at an apartment complex.
It happened at the Cobblestone Ridge Apartments on the South side of town near highway 115. People inside the building woke up to smoke and flames around 2:16 Saturday morning.
Everyone living there made it out of the fire okay. A dog had to be rescued by firefighters but is doing fine.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire out about 20 minutes after they got to the scene.
Eight apartment complexes were damaged in the fire, Colorado Springs police say two of those apartments were completely destroyed. The Red Cross was called in to help displaced families.
Fire investigators are still working to find out the cause of the fire.
