What you need to know about the 2017 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - The annual Pikes Peak Regional Air Show is set to perform this weekend.

The Thunderbirds and Warbirds are expected to flash across the sky between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

You may also catch them on Friday for their practice runs.

You can get the best view of their performance at the south end of the Colorado Springs Airport. Access to the Air Show parking lot will be made via both Milton E. Proby Parkway and Cresterra Parkway.

Drivers should expect significant delays on that side of town as officials expect at least 40 to 50,000 spectators each day.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Powers Boulevard will be closed between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Recommended Powers Boulevard detour routes will be posted around the airport and will include a route along Platte/Marksheffel/Bradley to the east, or Grinnell/Fontaine to the west.
