COLORADO SPRINGS - Staff members at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region have something to celebrate this holiday season.

For two days in a row, all of the dogs and cats that were available have been adopted.

The shelter had 25 cats and 23 dogs adopted during its Home for the Holidays promotion.

“The holidays are actually a great time to adopt a new furry friend into your household. A lot of people take a little bit of time off, the whole family is there, so everyone can help the new pet acclimate, meet any new pets, meet all of the family. So it's really a great time to adopt,” said Gretchen Pressley with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

The shelter expects to get more dogs later this week.
