Manitou Springs family reunited with pet after thief steals car with him inside

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. - A family was reunited with their dog on Monday night after a man stole their car while the dog was still inside earlier that morning. 

The family told KRDO NewsChannel 13 on Tuesday morning that a good samaritan called them on Monday at around 10 p.m. to tell them that a man had tied Max up to a pole at the 7-Eleven off 30th and Colorado.

Their black Ford Expedition is still missing, but the family expressed that they are just happy to have their loved one back. 

"We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring love and support that we received while he was missing and continue to receive now that he his home," the family said to KRDO NewsChannel 13. 

They added that Max will be working at D&D Liquor in Manitou Springs all day on Tuesday if you wanted to stop by, give him some love, and hear his story.

Max was taken along with the SUV early Monday morning as its owner was opening up the liquor store. The guy that stole it is described as being in his late 30s and has black hair. He was wearing a black collared shirt with white writing on the side, black shorts, white socks and black shoes.

The vehicle has a bad crack in the windshield and a license plate of 742 AGP. It was last seen in the Ellicott area.
