120 Fort Carson soldiers reunited with families
120 Fort Carson soldiers were reunited with their families after a homecoming ceremony at the Mountain Post Thursday morning.
The soldiers served with the 10th Combat Support Hospital and deployed to Afghanistan last October.
Soldiers with the unit were responsible for medical care at 15 locations throughout Afghanistan.
Fort Carson leaders applauded the unit's accomplishments on Thursday morning. The soldiers operated the busiest trauma hospital in theater and out of those they cared for, saw a 98 percent survival rate.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 spoke to the LaRose family. Rachel LaRose is a nurse who deployed about six months ago. She said it has been extremely difficult to be away from her two sons.
Her husband, Brandon, worked full-time while Rachel was deployed. He also cared for their sons Josiah, 3, and Jaxon, 1.
Brandon said he's worked through tough times day by day. He said the family will be spending lots of time together and Rachel said she plans to take some time off of work to be with her sons.
