13th Air Support Operations Squadron to hold change of command ceremony

FORT CARSON, Colo. - The Air Force 13th Air Support Operations Squadron (ASOS) at Fort Carson will be holding a change of command ceremony at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The ceremony will be held on Founders Field on the Mountain Post.

Lt. Col. John Blocher will be stepping down, and Lt. Col. Jeffrey Strange will assume command of the 13th ASOS.

Prior to Tuesday's ceremony, Strange was the director of operations for the 13th ASOS. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2001, and is a career pilot. He has been deployed multiple times in support of operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve.

He has flown 2,800 hours in the B-1B Lancer Bomber. He has also served as a flight lead, instructor pilot and air liaison officer.

Blocher will be moving to NATO headquarters in the Netherlands, where he will serve as the senior U.S. military assistant to the commander.
