PUEBLO, Colo. -- While Republican candidates Scott McInnis and Dan Maes deal with controversy in the race to be Colorado's next governor, Democratic opponent John Hickenlooper visited Pueblo on Tuesday.Hickenlooper, currently mayor of Denver, toured Mobile Record Shredders and spoke with employees. He said he's visiting small businesses across the state to learn what makes them successful, and he plans to apply that to new and existing businesses. Hickenlooper presented a three-part plan to create jobs and stimulate Colorado's economy. The plan involves creating a "road map" for each county. "As they're deciding what their economic future should look like," said Hickenlooper, "Make sure they're aware of the basic facts. Colorado has the third-best pro-business tax environment in the U.S. A lot of people aren't aware of this. We miss great chances by not making sure that everyone in our state is out marketing our state."Hickenlooper said the rest of his plan involves making Colorado a center for innovation and small business development. He also wants help businesses by cutting governmental red tape. While in Pueblo, Hickenlooper also met with Hispanic leaders and bankers. He has scheduled a campaign stop in Colorado Springs on Wednesday.
