UPDATED: 6:38 pm MDT August 20, 2010
A Colorado Springs man has been arrested on charges of child abuse.

On Aug. 4, Colorado Springs police officers were called to Memorial Hospital after a 7-month-old child was brought in for care. The infant was emaciated according to the officers. The case was transferred to the Crimes Against Child Unit.

According to the arrest affidavit, Williams cared for the baby and two other children while his wife was in jail for an 18 day period. Documents indicated the child lost 29% of his body weight during that time.

On Aug. 19, 22-year-old Fort Carson Soldier Trevor Williams was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for a felony charge of child abuse.

The infant is still recovering at the hospital, and has regained weight. According to the affidavit the boy has some developmental problems doctors attribute to the malnutrition.

Williams will be in court August 30th.
