2 New Scams Hit Facebook Spamming Your Account

Spammers Are Getting Smarter When It Comes To Hacking Your Account

There's a new spam scheme hitting Facebook and it looks like it's coming from your friends. It began appearing on the popular social network site Friday.

Facebook Chat Scam
Spammers are gaining access to your Facebook chat accounts. A message reads, "LOL... is that you?" It's followed with a link. The link will lead you to what appears to be a Facebook video. Instead, a new web page will open with the message, "404. Page Not Found." By then, it's too late. If you follow the link, it'll send the same chat pop-up to your friends.

Facebook said Friday they are looking into the matter.

Facebook Coin Scam
There's another scam targetting Facebook and its "credits" program.

Facebook credits act like virtual currency. You can use coins to buy gifts and virtual goods in many online games and applications on the website. You can also purchase coins with your credit card, PayPal account or mobile phone.

Spammers are setting up fake ads on Facebook, making them look official with the Facebook logo and the yellow credit coin. Often times, these fake ads will tell you to follow explicit instructions in order to "cash in." The coin scam is a popular target for the online game, "Farmville."

If you think you've been scammed, change your password. You should also keep an eye on your online bank accounts.

Facebook said they are aware of the issue and try to eliminate ads that look like they are from the company.
