Scam Artists Are Targeting People Who Apply Online
POSTED: 11:01 pm MDT August 29, 2010UPDATED: 11:19 pm MDT August 29, 2010- Never give out your bank account or Social Security number
- Don't "scan your ID." Online job applications should not need a copy of your driver's license.
- The contact email address should have a domain. It should never have an email address from a website like Yahoo! or Hotmail.
- Grammatical mistakes and misspellings in the ad.
If you think you've been hacked:
- Close all bank accounts where the scam took place.
- Order a credit report from all three credit bureaus.
- Report the company name, job posting and all contact names to the job site where you found the ad.
- Close the email address associated with the fraud.
