MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -- Manitou Springs police used three blasts to help render two suspicious packages safe Thursday night. Inside one of the packages, investigators discovered one inert grenade and other suspicious items.The packages were discovered near the intersection of Lovers Lane and Lafayette Road Thursday afternoon around 1:45 pm. Acting City Manager Mike Leslie said they were deemed suspicious because of the way the boxes were taped.Dozens of people who were parked too close to the packages when roads were shut down were stuck on Manitou Avenue for hours. Roads around the packages were closed from about 1:30 pm until around 9:00 pm.
