COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A security officer for Peterson Air Force base was arrested Thursday night for handling a gun while under the influence of alcohol.It happened Thursday night outside the Copperhead Road Nightclub on Academy Boulevard. Tyler Stringer, 22, went to his car and got a .45 caliber handgun. Police said the gun fired a round. Stringer told police the semi-auto pistol discharged accidentally.Stringer was detained by Colorado Springs police and club security, police said. Stringer was under the influence of alcohol while handling a gun, which violates state statutes. Stringer was made to post bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, police said. Stringer faces two misdemeanor charges of Prohibited Use of Weapons and Reckless Endangerment.No one was hurt in the incident.
