Crime in the Fountain and Chelton area of Colorado Springs has traditionally been high. Apartment managers in the area have joined forces with the Colorado Springs Police Department to share ideas in hopes of reducing crime. They are also trying to clean up the area.
Join their efforts Saturday where dumpsters will be provided, free of charge, as residents clean up.
You can bring your trash to the south end of Mazatlan Cir. from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Items that will not be accepted include: refrigerators, tires, mattresses, vehicle parts, ammunition or batteries.
CSPD says the impact to date has proven not only promising, but successful. They have dedicated a team of officers who strive to reduce crime, monitor traffic issues and improve the overall safety and quality of life for residents there. CSPD has coordinated efforts with Patrol Officers, Code Enforcement Officers, Crime Prevention Officers and Business Owners to facilitate open communication among one another. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design teams have conducted security and lighting assessments in the area to help improve overall safety in the area.
