There was a deadly traffic accident on Platte Ave. near Powers Blvd around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Police tell us that a Jeep Wagoneer was going eastbound on Platte Ave and a silver Buick was entering westbound Platte from the northbound on-ramp at Powers. One vehicle t-boned the other. Investigators are not saying who was at fault and no citations have been issued. The driver of the Buick, a male, died at the scene. Three other occupants in that vehicle were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are not being released at this time. The driver of the Jeep, the lone occupant of that vehicle, was not injured.
The area was closed for investigation for nearly three hours. As of 4:20 p.m., all lanes are back open.
There is a separate rollover accident on Powers Blvd at Airport Rd that also blocked traffic for some time Monday afternoon. CSPD tells us that no one was hurt in that accident. A Chevy Avalanche was making a left turn onto Airport and was hit by a VW Bug that was heading south on Powers. No word on who was at fault. The Chevy Avalanche was carrying wood in the truck bed and rolled over. Lanes were blocked while crews cleared the debris but all lanes have since reopened.
KRDO NewsChannel 13's Samantha Anderson is on the scene of these crashes and we will keep you updated as we get more information.
