Child killed in rollover crash
A six-year-old is dead and two other people are seriously injured after a rollover crash in Crowley County.
It happened around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 96 near mile marker 92.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, a 1996 Dodge Avenger was traveling eastbound on Highway 96 and went off the left side of the road. The driver over-corrected to the right, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise. The Dodge continued eastbound off the road and collided with a culvert.
The Dodge's driver was identified as Jamie Netherton, 29, of Ordway, CO. She was unrestrained at the time of the crash and air lifted to Parkview Medical Center. She was treated for serious injuries, said state patrol.
The Dodge's rear middle passenger was a 6-year-old girl. She was not restrained by a child safety seat, but seat belted with the lap belt. She was transported to Parkview Medical Center, but died as a result of her injuries.
The Dodge's rear right passenger was 4-year-old boy. He was not restrained by a child safety seat, but seat belted with the safety belt. He was transported to Parkview Medical Center, but later air lifted to Children's Hospital in Denver with serious injuries.
Distracting driving is being considered as a contributing factor in the crash.
