A hopeful chapter in the healing of Mountain Shadows. Chuck and Hallie showed me around their home. I've chosen not to release their last names or their address to keep their anonymity during the healing process of their neighborhood.
Chuck showed me a boot print on the cement on the pad in front of their garage. Chuck believes this is proof positive how hard, fire crews worked to save their home. He told me, "It symbolizes to me what the firefighters were doing. The flames were all over the place, they're trying to save our house. Their footprints really go to me."
Chuck also showed me the damage to the home. A little bit of stucco melted the door frame on the back door. There were also some scorched earth and burnt plants around the home. Chuck says, " We were prepared for the absolute worst. You see some of our neighbors had to face that." He was showing me the house across the street that burned to the ground.
However, throughout this whole painful chapter, Chuck and Hallie have hope for the future of their neighbors and their neighborhood. Chuck told me, "The message of hope from me is we love you and come back. It's a great neighborhood. It'll be a great neighborhood again."
