Investigators: Few clues in Dylan Redwine disappearance
After eight days of searching for a missing Colorado Springs 13-year-old, investigators said Monday that they still have no leads on where Dylan Redwine might be.
"What's been most frustrating about this search and our investigation is there are simply no clues," said Dan Bender, spokesperson for the La Plata County Sheriff's Office. "That means we have to check every conceivable possibility."
Bender said never in his 30 year career at the sheriff's office has he seen a case like this one, where a child seemingly just vanishes without a trace.
Redwine went missing while he was staying with his father in Vallecito for a court ordered visit. Mark Redwine said he left Dylan at home to run some errands on November 19, and the boy was gone when he returned.
Dylan's mother tells ABC News she is fearful that Mark may have done something to "remove Dylan from the situation."
"I was married to Mark for a lot of years, and I know the way he reacts to things," Elaine Redwine told ABC News. "If Dylan maybe did or said something that wasn't what Mark wanted to hear, I'm just afraid of how Mark would have reacted."
Mark Redwine has refused to comment to the media.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations is working with the La Plata County Sheriff's Office in the search for Dylan.
On Sunday and Monday, investigators focused on the Vallecito Reservoir, near where Dylan's father lives.
Dive crews used sonar equipped boats to comb the water, searching several areas cadaver dogs had reacted to. Nothing was found.
"We have no plans to return to the lake," said Bender.
Bender said investigators would meet Monday night to plan search efforts for the following day.
He said there are no persons of interest in the case, and that Dylan's mom and dad have both been working closely with investigators.
"Both parents have been cooperative with not only our investigators, but FBI investigators," said Bender.
Redwine is described as 5 feet tall, 105 pounds, blond hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a black Nike shirt, black basketball nylon shorts, black Jordan tennis shoes and a two-tone blue and white Duke Blue Devils baseball hat.
Anyone with information on Dylan’s whereabouts is asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Dan Patterson 970-382-7015 or Tom Cowing 970-382-7045.
