COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Colorado Springs police are investigating a motorcycle crash that sent one woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It happened on North Union Boulevard near Templeton Gap Rd. around 4 a.m. Friday. The southbound lanes were closed from Austin Bluffs Pkwy. until 9:30 a.m.

Police said the 37-year-old woman is in stable condition, but lucky to be alive.

Officers said it looked like the white Harley Davidson motorcycle was not built for more than one rider. It did not have rear passenger foot pegs.

Police said the motorcycle was headed northbound, but  hit the center median, then crossed all southbound lanes and hit a guardrail.

According to officers, a witness drove the man and woman to the hospital. The man identified himself as Larry Manchego, but disappeared at the hospital.
