An armed robber is behind bars.
Just before 6 p.m. Monday Colorado Springs police answered a call about a disturbance at the McDonald's on 3021 W. Colorado Avenue.
Police say Benjamin Martinez was fighting with someone in the drive through lane and when an employee went out to see what was going on he pointed a handgun at them and took off in his vehicle. Then just before 9 p.m. Police went to the 7-11 at 825 N. Nevada Avenue for a personal robbery. An unknown man, now identified as Martinez, pulled in front of the victim's car so they couldn't move, got out with a handgun, hit the man several times on the side of the head, then took his cell phone and wallet and drove away.
About an hour later McDonald's employees called police saying that Martinez was back. Police arrested him on suspicion of felony menacing and personal robbery. Police say they found a handgun replica BB gun inside his car.
