Man arrested for 2 hit-and-runs, DUI

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Police arrested a man for driving under the influence after two hit-and-run accidents Friday night.

Shortly before midnight, police were called to Hancock Expy. and S. Academy Blvd. to investigate a hit-and-run. Police then received a call about another hit-and-run at the intersection of S. Academy Blvd. and Astrozon Blvd. 

Police found the suspect, Samuel Ajjarapu, and determined that he was drunk.

Police detained Ajjarapu and took him to a local hospital to finish the DUI investigation.

While at the hospital, Ajjarapu became resistant and started spitting on officers and hospital staff.

Ajjarapu was charged for both accidents, DUI, 3rd Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
