Manhunt near Sierra High School
One man arrested, second man escapes
Colorado Springs police on Friday searched for two men who were in a stolen vehicle and possibly attempting to burglarize homes.
Police were around Sierra High School at 9 a.m. investigating a reported home burglary. They found the vehicle abandoned with the engine running at the Summit Creek Apartments. Officers began searching for the men, and lockdowns were ordered for Sierra, Panorama Middle School and Bricker, Giberson and Turman elementary schools.
Police arrested Jeffrey Marshall on the south side of Sierra. Police say he was armed with a weapon. He's charged with motor vehicle theft and carrying a concealed weapon. Police say they hope to find the second man soon.
The men were seen driving through neighborhoods, knocking on doors and walking through back yards, police said, as if checking to see if houses were occupied and easy to burglarize. The case remains under investigation, however police haven't connected the men with any burglaries.
The lockdowns began at 9:30 a.m. and ended an 11 a.m., said Christine Lyle, spokeswoman for Harrison School District 2.
