Manitou Springs gives the green light for voters to decide if the city should impose a sales tax on retail marijuana. City council met Tuesday night to discuss 6 different options on selling recreational marijuana. It passed two of those 6-0. Council passed one ordinance to submit a ballot to the November 5 election for voters to impose a sales tax on retail pot.One ordinance passed - a question will be on the ballot in November and voters can decide whether to put a sales tax on retail pot. The second ordinance that passed was to put a moratorium - or a temporary ban - on retail marijuana until December 31, 2013. That's so they can wait for the sales tax ballot results and go forward from there. Mayor Marc Synder says Manitou is searching for revenue to keep his city alive after the fire and flooding.
