Chief Matt Meister grabbed this time lapse showing the Waldo Canyon Fire pyrocumulus cloud starting at 1pm on Tuesday afternoon. Starting at about 3:30pm strong outflow wind from a thunderstorm to the left of the screen took the fire and quickly shoved it into NW Colorado Springs. After it gets into town, the additional smoke plume billow that you see is caused by heat generated as homes in Colorado Springs started to burn.
