Multiple accidents on south bound Interstate-25 caused traffic backups at the Circle exit.
The first crash happened at about 5:45 a.m Monday.
Four separate accidents were reported, involving a total of 11 to 12 vehicles, according to police.
Colorado Springs police said a pickup truck hit a guardrail, causing a blockage in the left lane. Police said that crash caused other crashes. Another accident involved a semi-truck and another involved six vehicles.
Tow trucks began coming in at around 6:30 a.m. to clean up the area. Officials said they hoped to have the area cleared up by rush hour.
