PTA collecting teddy bears for Sandy Hook
Members of a local PTA are collecting new Teddy bears to send to students at Sandy Hook Elementary. They said it's their way to show their support in light of the tragedy.
PTA president Danielle Swan said the idea to send teddy bears to Connecticut came from her daughter. On Friday, as Swan cried over the tragedy, she told her daughter she just wanted to cuddle. The 6-year-old offered to send cuddles to those suffering across the country.
Now, the PTA members are sending cuddles in the form of teddy bears. They hope to collect 800 new bears - at least one for every student at Sandy Hook. They plan to send them to the school's PTA for them to be distributed to the children.
To donate, you can drop off a new teddy bear at Kozy Korner Frozen Yogurt at 921 N. Academy in Colorado Springs during business hours. You can also donate money. All proceeds will go toward buying teddy bears.
Organizers asked that you not drop off teddy bears at any school, for safety reasons. To find out more on how to get involved, click here.
