Police investigate homicide at the Chief Motel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Colorado Springs police tell us they are searching for a man wanted for a homicide at the Chief Motel.

Police said they got calls about a body inside one of the rooms of the motel in the 1600 block of S. Nevada Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to detectives, Joseph Santos-Torres, 49, has been named a suspect and is wanted on a first-degree murder charge.

Police said they are not releasing Santos-Torres' picture at this time.

According to officers, the victim's name and cause of death will not be released pending autopsy results.

If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the city's 17th homicide of the year. There were 19 at this time last year.
