MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -

Hikers were excited to find out that a portion of Rainbow Falls that has reopened, but that excitement did not last very long after they found out a very small portion of the recreation space was accessible.

Right now, people can only access the entry trail, a potion of the trail along the creek, and the picnic tables. The trail that heads to the falls is closed because of continued flash flooding concerns.

Some people could be seen going past the barriers Tuesday afternoon, but El Paso County leaders say that hikers caught past the barriers will face fines and are endangering themselves.
