Possible sighting of Jessica Ridgeway in Maine
Police in Maine looking for station wagon
Police in Maine have issued a statewide alert for a light blue station wagon after a possible sighting of Jessica Ridgeway was reported, according to our sister station in Denver, KMGH.
Sgt. Alan Grinnell, with the Police Department in Dexter, Maine, told 7NEWS that a woman saw the Amber Alert on her computer Tuesday and reported the possible sighting.
Grinnell said the woman reported seeing a girl who looked very much like Jessica in the back seat of a light blue Buick station wagon with Colorado plates Sunday. He said they have not confirmed that it was Jessica, but did say police are taking the tip seriously.
The Dexter Police Department did contact the Westminster Police Department about this tip, Grinnel said.
Dexter, Maine is about 40 miles west of Bangor.
10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway disappeared on Friday in Westminster. She was last seen leaving home to meet friends at a park so they could walk to school. Police say she didn't meet up with her friends or get to school.
Authorities on Wednesday said they believe Ridgeway was abducted by an unknown suspect. Police say they're pursuing tips from Nevada, Texas, and Maryland as well as Maine.
The FBI sent a team to the girl's home in Westminster, Colo., on Tuesday, but they refused to comment on any findings. Her mother, Sarah Ridgeway, said she wants her daughter back.
Authorities went to the Independence, Mo., residence of the girl's father, Jeremiah Bryant, on Friday. Bryant also said he wants to find his daughter.
Police say the only item found so far that they can link to Jessica is her backpack. It was found on a sidewalk in a neighborhood about six miles north of her home on Sunday.
Police are asking people to be on the lookout for Jessica's distinguishing characteristics - a small gap between her two front teeth and a sore on the top of her nose below where her glasses sit.

Authorities are also looking into whether this case could be linked to the abduction of a girl in Wyoming.
Police in the Denver suburb of Westminster say they're aware of the case in Cody, Wyo., and were working with investigators there on Wednesday.
A man lured an 11-year-old Cody girl into a sport utility vehicle on Monday saying he needed help finding his dog. She was released about four hours later and found by hunters.
