The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says the presidential candidates missed an opportunity to address guns in their debate at the University of Denver.
The campaign and members of eight families who lost relatives in the Aurora theater shootings in July had urged moderator Jim Lehrer to ask the candidates to address gun violence. Instead, Lehrer stuck to other topics he chose before Wednesday's debate at the University of Denver.
Tom Teves' son, Alex, attended the university and was killed in the shootings. After the debate, Teves said that he doubts the topic will come up in any debates, insisting that no one has the courage to speak about it.
