Pueblo City Council President Ray Aguilera told TARGET 13's Tak Landrock that they hope to make a decision on the future of Pueblo City Manager Monday night, but they won't say the outcome until Tuesday.
When asked why they want to wait, Aguilera told TARGET 13 it was because that's how they want to do it.
Council members went into executive session Monday night at 5 p.m. The meeting adjourned just before 6 p.m. and there will be a press conference Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
City Manager Jerry Pacheo has been the center of a TARGET 13 investigation into his relationship with one of his employees Marisa Walker, who is the city's Human Resources Director.
Pueblo City Council, feeling heat from their constituents, held a closed door executive session Friday morning, but council couldn't get through the volumes of paperwork by Friday night.
Sources told TARGET 13 that council asked for another 200-plus emails between Walker and Pacheco, which they will read through Monday in executive session.
Several sources told TARGET 13 last week that Pacheco sent members of council a letter stating the facts about the relationship between him and Walker.
Walker was one of his direct employees until TARGET 13 began asking questions about their relationship.
Pacheco told TARGET 13 that he wouldn't comment in anything involving his divorce. "I've briefed the city council and the city council knows everything that has been going on since the day after my Blackberry was stolen," Pacheco said in his first on-camera interview with TARGET 13 earlier this month.
Pacheco and his current wife are going through a divorce. She told TARGET 13 she's the one with took his Blackberry after she discovered text messages between Walker and her husband.
Another issue brought up recently about Pacheco's performance deals with a court ruling against him and the city, finding there were violations of nepotism.
Pacheco plans to fight a district judge's ruling that he was guilty of nepotism and favoritism.
Pacheo added that he isn't involved in the "front line" hiring of employee and plans to appeal the ruling.
