Olivia is a reporter for the 10 p.m. newscasts and co-anchors the Saturday evening news. She couldn’t be happier to call Southern Colorado her new home. Growing up in a southwest suburb of Chicago, Olivia is a city girl at heart, but she has loved the outdoors since she was little. It’s been a dream of hers to live in Colorado with the mountains as a backdrop and the opportunity to be outside nearly every single day.
She comes from Sioux City, IA where she spent two years at Siouxland News (CBS/FOX affiliates) as a reporter and morning anchor. Olivia is an award-winning journalist with an Iowa Broadcast News Association award for her reporting on the farm/agribusiness industry. While in Sioux City, she had the privilege to cover politics during the 2012 presidential nomination process, interviewing candidates: Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum
Olivia earned her degree in broadcasting and a minor in Spanish at the University of Missouri. She worked at the NBC affiliate, KOMU, in Columbia while in college. Olivia also spent a summer in Spain studying abroad and another summer in Myrtle Beach, SC as an intern at WMBF, the NBC affiliate.
“Every day I walk into the newsroom with a great attitude, ready to tell stories. It feels like a dream to be a television news reporter. I meet new people every day, hoping to make a difference, informing our viewers to keep them safe. It’s my goal to be the most accurate and caring journalist I can be. I can’t imagine a better career.”, Wilmsen said.
Olivia is the oldest of three. Her parents still live in her hometown of Orland Park, IL. Her brother and sister live in Tempe, AZ as Arizona State University Sun Devils. She’s found herself cheering for many teams: the Mizzou Tigers, ASU, all Chicago teams, especially the Cubs and has even found a new love for the Denver Broncos.
You can find Olivia hiking, running, biking, shopping or chowing down a great meal. She’s a lover of the movies and music, too. Olivia has 18 years of singing experience. She also plays the piano in her spare time.
