Seattle may drop cab driver hygiene requirements
POSTED: 02:29 AM MDT Oct 27, 2012
The city of Seattle is considering eliminating the regulation that requires taxi cab drivers to wear neat and clean clothes and to be well-groomed and without offensive body odor.
Taxi drivers tell say the city doesn't set grooming and hygiene standards for other workers and they shouldn't be singled out. They also say it's in their own interests to give passengers a pleasant experience.
The proposed change will be discussed at a city council hearing on budget-related issues on Thursday evening at City Hall.
