StormTracker 13 Forecaster/Reporter
Abby Acone joined KRDO as our newest StormTracker in August 2014! She says she's honored to have the opportunity to forecast Colorado's ever-changing weather.
Before coming to Colorado, Abby worked as a reporter and weather anchor in Pasco, Washington - covering everything from gang crime to the use of taxpayer resources. Abby snagged multiple awards for her work, including her coverage of a local Amber Alert and the uncovering of a timed-race scammer.
During her time as a forecaster, Abby learned the finer points of covering thunderstorms and high winds. She says the adrenaline rush and challenge of covering active weather excites her.
Abby graduated from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. There, she reported and anchored for Cable 8 News - the student-run nightly newscast. Abby also gained experience by acting as talent for a variety of the student-run television shows and KUGR radio. For experience behind the camera, she interned for Sony at the National Association of Broadcasters 2012. In summer of 2011, Abby interned with CBS affiliate KIRO in Seattle. There, she first learned to write, track and edit news stories. She also acted as a social media producer for the live Seafair Twitter feed.
Abby grew up in Bellevue, WA – home to her frequent Starbucks and hiking fix. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her wonderful husband. Abby can't wait to get to know the Colorado Springs community! Don't hesitate to send along any weather questions, photos or a hello!
