Suspect arrested in El Paso County shooting
Deputies: Victim shot in face
El Paso County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of shooting someone in the face Sunday night.
Authorities on Monday afternoon identified the suspect as Salvadore Pritchett, 23. He was caught in the 800 block of West 14th Street in Pueblo around 10:20 p.m. on Monday night.
On Sunday, deputies received numerous reports of shots fired around 9:30 p.m. just south of Colorado Springs.
Investigators found blood outside a room at the Days Inn Hotel at 2850 South Circle Drive. No victim was found at that location.
However, they found a victim minutes later and miles away. A 22-year-old man showed up near Fort Carson Gate 4 and he had been shot in the face, deputies said. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Deputies said despite being shot in the face, he was conscious and able to speak with medical staff.
Pritchett faces charges of attempted first degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, assault in the first degree, menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Pritchett also faces unrelated charges out of Pueblo County for burglary and escape.
The sheriff's office has revealed few details about the shooting.
"We're not releasing anything about this investigation at this time that might speak to motive," said Lt. Jeff Kramer.
Kramer said the unidentified victim is in stable condition.
