Thousands to participate in Race for the Cure
Colorado Springs is gearing up in pink this weekend for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Garden of the Gods.
About 6,000 people are expected to walk and run through the park’s trails.
“Registering for the race is a show of solidarity and a sign of support,” said Operations Director Patty Borish. “And you come out here and you get to enjoy a walk through Garden of the Gods.”
The goal this year is to raise $650,000. Organizers say 75 percent of the money goes toward helping fund grants in the community.
“It's most exciting to be able to give that money away” Borish said. “That's where we feel we make the biggest impact in our community.”
Those interested in participating can sign up at Citadel Mall and Chapel Hills Mall on Friday, or at Garden of the Gods on Saturday and Sunday.
