Colorado State troopers caught the driver of a stolen vehicle out of New Mexico on Tuesday morning, after chasing him over 20 miles on Interstate 25.
The chase started near the Briargate exit in El Paso County at mile marker 151. Colorado State Patrol told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that troopers were informed of a vehicle stolen out of New Mexico. Troopers spotted the 2007 GMC 1500 Denali around 10:20 a.m. and tried to pull it over.
The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and continued northbound on I-25 at speeds over 100 mph, CSP said. Troopers began chasing the vehicle.
CSP said the driver of the vehicle eventually turned into the median and started heading south on I-25 at exit 179 near Castle Rock. OnStar stopped the truck at mile marker 178.
22-year-old Dustin Henley from New Mexico was taken into custody.
No damage occurred and no accidents were caused by the chase, troopers said.
According to the Carlsbad Police Department in New Mexico, Henley burglarized the Tate Branch Autoplex dealership. He is accused of stealing the Denali, two cell phones, Ipod and a safe.
Henley was on parole for burglarizing the same establishment on July 14th, 2011, said police.
