GOLDEN, Colo. -

Authorities said Sunday that an attempted abduction in Golden was a misunderstanding.

The Jefferson Co. Sheriff's Office told our news partners at KMGH that the man involved in allegedly trying to lure a 13-year-old boy Saturday turned himself in.

Investigators said the 18-year-old said he was trying to get the boy to go knock on the door of his ex-girlfriend's home. When the boy became scared and tried to get away, the teen got out of the car to try explaining himself.

The 13-year-old boy's mother snapped a picture of the man in his car and released it to news outlets.

"I think everyone reacted just the way they should have, in the light of everything that is going on," said Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer.
