PARKER, Colo. -

A woman was shot to death Tuesday evening in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant while her children waited inside.

About 90 minutes later, police found the body of her estranged husband, Mark Steven Royer, 53, near his truck at a local trailhead.

Witnesses say it was Royer who pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant just after 5 p.m., shooting the victim three times in the chest.

The first police to arrive attempted CPR, but to no avail.

Court records indicate the victim, Donna Marie Royer, was a victim of frequent domestic violence.

The pair had divorced last year, and Donna Marie had been granted a permanent restraining order in April.
